Hello Friends!
This fall has been a complete whirlwind! A new granddiddle arrived, a hurricane swept through, we spent two months working our patooties off to create our latest cookbook, did a little traveling for work, and then struggled with sickness for a few weeks. But we made it through! Now, the time has finally come to announce the drop of Cookin on the Compound Volume 4. This cookbook may very well be my new personal favorite.

Let’s Get Holiday Ready
As we move into the holiday season, things around the compound are shifting gears. If you’re anything like me, December is a mix of festive excitement and full-blown chaos as you place seed orders and prepare for January seed sowing.
Over the years, I’ve learned a few tricks to keep my holiday entertaining manageable while still feeling magical—and you’d better believe a lot of them come from the recipes in this cookbook.
One of my favorite things to do in December is plan the big family gathering. Nothing too fussy, just something that feels warm, inviting, and, most importantly, doable.
Here’s how I usually pull it together:
1. A Focused Menu, Heavy on Make-Ahead Dishes
When you’ve got a crowd coming, simplicity is key. For our holiday parties, I stick to a few showstoppers alongside crowd-pleasers I can make ahead. One of my go-tos from Cookin on the Compound Volume 4 is Granny’s Creamed Corn, which checks all the boxes: easy to prep, comfort food, and perfect for feeding a crowd.
2. Warm Drinks— A taste of it all
I love creating a seasonal drink station. This year, I’m thinking Egg Nog, Our Famous Hot Chocolate, and Aunt Annie’s Not Chocolate.
3. Setting the Scene Without Losing My Mind
Listen, I’m not about to spend hours on centerpieces. I keep things simple: greenery from the yard, beeswax candles everywhere, and that’s it ! The Rule of Life: People First
At the end of the day, the food and decor are important, but what I’ve always believed is that the people around the table matter most. We’re going into our first Christmas without my sister in law, we didn’t all make it through this year and that has been very hard. Yet, we press on. This Christmas will be somber, it will be hard, and yet we will celebrate the joy that is Jesus birth and the hope that his life, death, and resurrection gives us that we will see all our gone home loved ones again.
So, as you’re planning your own holiday gatherings, don’t stress over perfection. Take a deep breath, pick a few dishes you’re excited to make, and let the rest fall into place. If you need ideas, Cookin on the Compound Volume 4 has plenty of inspiration to get you started.
Here’s to a season filled with good food, great company, and a little holiday joy!
We love you, we appreciate you, and we hope that you see that all year through.
